SCULPTURE - The human figure

This workshop was designed for people who want to learn skills of sculpture using clay. Each participant will make simple and complex forms using clay, analysing the human figure.


Details

The exercises begin from two-dimensional design, moving on to three-dimensional forms by using modelling techniques and slab construction.

Surfaces are decorated using bas-relief elements, and they are then painted using slip.
The courses are designed for small groups, so that each participant can be dedicated individual attention.

A certificate will be issued at the end of the course, and participants will be given the pieces that they have made.

Price: 290 euro, inclusive of materials, firing and VAT.

DECORATION AND READYMADE BY ROBERT COOPER

The workshop will take place over the course of three days, during which participants will make pieces, studying and applying various techniques of decoration and assembly that the artist habitually uses in his works

Details

By means of reused and recycled materials, and by using screenprints, sponges, sheets, textiles for painting and for immersing into the clay, slips, glazes, under- and over-glaze pigments, all participants will be able to make their own artistic objects with an original, very personal decoration!

The workshop will be held on:
Friday 6 February from midday to 2.00 pm and from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
Saturday 7 February, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
Sunday 8 February, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, and from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Price: 390 euro, inclusive of materials, firing and VAT.

Officine Saffi Lab Porcelain Sculpture Simon Zsolt Jozsef

PORCELAIN SCULPTURE BY ZSOLT JOZSEF SIMON

The course is dedicated to the creation of one-off pieces in porcelain using the slip-casting technique.

Details

After an initial classroom lesson led by the artist to explain the technique, students will make their own moulds in plaster using various techniques, such as sculpting, hand modelling and assembly. On the last day, liquid porcelain clay will be poured into the moulds made by the students on the previous course days, in order to produce their sculpture pieces.

The workshop will be held on:

Friday 17 October, from midday to 2.00 pm and from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
Saturday 18 October, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
Sunday 19 October, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Paperclay

PAPERCLAY DI LUCA TRIPALDI

Details

By adding a small percentage of paper to liquid porcelain, complex forms can be made, with thin or thick walls, and with smooth or textured surfaces that would be impossible to make using clay without paper.

During the workshop, participants will learn the techniques for working with poured paper clay, using cardboard dies, plaster dies with patterns, in sheets using the pour-moulded sheet technique, and in mixes with other raw materials to create textured effects suitable for sculpture.

The workshop will be held on Saturday 22 March, from 12.00 midday to 2.30 p.m., followed by a lunchbreak, and then from 3.00 p.m. until 6.30 p.m.; and on Sunday 23 March, from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Details

After a certain time dedicated to theory, during which the various characteristics and functions of the materials used will be explained, using images and test samples, participants will perform their own tests in order to identify the effects best suited to their tastes and requirements.

Particular attention will be dedicated to slips and glazes used to obtain surfaces with a stone-type appearance or other comparable finishes, particularly suitable for sculptures and abstract shapes, enhancing surfaces without concealing form.

The workshop will be held on:

Saturday 1 February, from 11.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., followed by a lunchbreak, and then from 2.00 p.m. until 6.30 p.m.
Sunday 2 February, from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., an optional meeting for those who wish to discuss the results of the tests fired during the night.

Specially for this workshop, Robert Cooper will create a collage of images and pieces, from which the participants will begin, developing their own narratives and stories.
