Photo Transfer - Silvia Celeste Calcagno

The winner of the 59th Faenza Prize will illustrate the relationship between photography and ceramics and how the Photo Transfer can be a technique, as well as a way to investigate reality. 22-23 October 2016

Details

The course aims to build and refine the ability to relate to the image. With a first photographic approach we seek to understand how fundamental it is the choice of photography and its possibilities and potential. The initial experience, in a simple but determined way, will lead to choose the right type of image and the motivation that drives us to transfer it to another material.

Ceramics as support instead of the paper, the transfer mode explained through the projection of slides and bibliographical investigation.
The fundamental role of the single piece made through the repetition of the same image but completely separated from the concept of mass production, often mistakenly associated with the decal.

The experience of each student will be decisive in the outcome of the course depending on how they will relate with the media and how the same result will dialogue with the image.

The decal will become a technique distant from the decoration but means of notification of the reality.

The management of the course, as well as the use of the technique, will follow the rules of subjectivity; a workshop based on the individuality of feeling and of expressing through a reality apparently the same for everyone but radically different for each one.
