Open to Art

Open to the Art is a biennial competition dedicated to the promotion of contemporary ceramics and is now at its third edition.

Launched in 2014, the competition was born to promote the use of ceramics in contemporary Art and Design. The contest - open to artists of all nationalities, singles or associates, with no age limits or bound thematic constraints - has immediately found great interest.
The second edition documented more than 300 participants from 48 countries from all five continents.
The third edition, which will open the applications in March 2018, confirms the first two money prizes 5.000 EUR each, for the two main categories Art section and Design section.
In addition to these there will be many other awards, artist's residences, production awards, solo shows and special prizes planned in collaboration with prestigious partners, as it was in the past edition in 2016 with Brera Academy, Amfora, Artemide, Euromobiliare Bank, Carlo Zauli Museum, MIC, Cologni Foundation, Espoarte.
The works of all finalists will be exhibited at Officine Saffi Gallery.

The jury will evaluate the participants according to fundamental criteria such as the work's quality, research, originality and contemporary relevance. It will be composed of leading personalities in Art and Design world. In past editions some of the jurors were Alberto Biagetti (Designer), Mette Blum-Marcher (Director of Gulgadergaard), Claudia Casali (Director of the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza), Carlotta De Bevilacqua (Vice President of Artemide and Danese Milan), Flaminio Gualdoni (teacher and art critic), Jennifer Lee (artist), Franco Marrocco (Director of Brera Academy of Fine Arts), Shozo Michikawa (Artist), Kristina Riska (Artist), Jukka Savolainen (Director of Design Museum in Helsinki).
