Officine Saffi and Be Modern Collection present, from 11 to 21 April, during the Art Fair MiArt, and the Milan Design Fair, an exhibition of unique pieces of furniture and ceramic art from the '50s and '60s.
Together with Milan Art (MiArt) and Design (Salone del Mobile) week, Officine Saffi and Be Modern Collection will showcase a refined combination of Ceramic Art and Furniture Design.
Officine Saffi transforms its exhibition floor, becoming a sequence of living spaces, exhibiting unique pieces of Scandinavian and Brazilian furniture from Be Modern Collection by designers such as Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues, Hans Wegner and Arne Vodder, and valuable works of ceramic art by international and Italian artists of the '50s and '60s such as Hans Coper, Lucie Rie, Claudi Casanovas, Lucio Fontana, Carlo Zauli, Nanni Valentini.The opening will be held Wednesday, April 11th at 6:00 pm and the exhibition will be open until April 21, 2012
During the two weeks Officine Saffi will also be the location of several special events, who will be listed on the gallery website.
Be Modern is a project curated by Cinzia Ferrara and Monika Unger, both architects and passionate and knowledgeable mid century furniture collectors. Be Modern is a leading provider of unique, 20th century design pieces and interior design consultancy. Be Modern Collection comprises important objects from internationally renowned modernist designers. Of special interest are the unique Brazilian Modern, iconic furnishings by designers such as Joaquim Tenreiro and Sergio Rodrigues.
Officine Saffi is the only Italian gallery specialized in ceramic art. Created by Laura Borghi, the gallery is a place for discussion, exchange of ideas and knowledge, a meeting point for the leading contemporary artists in the field.
Officine Saffi is not only an Art Gallery it is the head office of the specialized magazine: "La Ceramica in Italia e nel Mondo", and a workshop, where professional courses and seminars are held by famous ceramic artists.

Officine Saffi & NutriAid present a charity fund-raising evening dedicated to the children’s food centre at Nyangal in Senegal.
Officine Saffi is taking part in this fund-raising event, with works by six contemporary ceramic artists, who have donated their works for an exhibition that will be held on 15 May, on occasion of a charity dinner to support a humanitarian project by NutriAid.

On occasion of the exhibition “Contemporary Art Jewels, Ceramics for wearing!” Officine Saffi presents an interesting series of events on the theme.
On Wednesday 23 January, from 6.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., a number of professionals and experts in the field of contemporary and historic jewellery will present a series of debates, contributing with their own authoritative commentaries.

The multi-faceted Officine Saffi project is opening its premises to visitors from the Milan Furniture Show collateral events programme, from 9 to 14 April. It is inaugurating the premises of its new editorial offices on Friday 12 April, from 6.00 p.m. on.
The interiors have been completely renovate in a design by the Temen studio, led by architect Vittoria Bocconi who, in addition to designing some furniture accessories, utilized consultancy and prestige designers at Bredaquaranta in order to give the spaces a modern reinterpretation with special attention to design.
In addition to a series of contemporary design pieces by Porro and MDF, there is a selection of one-off 20th century furnishing pieces by Be Modern. As in previous years, Be Modern is working with Officine Saffi, presenting a series of 1950s furnishing products from Switzerland, Scandinavia and Denmark, such as lamps by Fog & Morup designed by Jo Hammerborg.

On occasion of the exhibition “Claudi Casanovas, Molecular clay, sculptures”, on Thursday 18 April, from 6.00 p.m., Officine Saffi Ceramic Arts Gallery presents an evening dedicated to Carlo Zauli, a master of 20th century Italian ceramic arts.
On this occasion, an important sculpture by Zauli, “Crollo di Cercope” (1982) will be exhibited alongside works by Casanovas, documenting the relationship between two generations and two styles of working, both at very high levels, each with their own interpretation of contemporary art research.
During the evening, the book “Carlo Zauli. Scritti e testimonianze” (Carlo Zauli. Writings and tributes) will be presented. Edited by Flaminio Gualdoni and published by the Carlo Zauli Museum, Faenza, the book includes both published and hitherto unpublished texts by the artist, and other valuable descriptions of his work by authors including Giulio Carlo Argan, Enzo Biagi, Davide Lajolo and Gio Ponti.
In addition to the editor, the director of the Zauli Museum and the artist’s son Matteo Zauli will also be present.
The event is produced in cooperation with the Renata Bianconi gallery, Milan.
